To use the calendar just place the 'year' over the 'month' by turning the dial using the conveniently upturned brass 'handle', then see the scale below which features a complete month. You don't just have to use it for the current month - it's also a useful device for planning ahead. Diaries show you one or two years hence but this neat guy offers you ONE HUNDRED YEARS - beat that!

The front plate is decorated in true nautical tradition with an engraved anchor and masted sailing ship.
